Averatec N3400

Averatec N3400

The Averatec N3400 has caught our attention. It has the sweet spot LCD size of 13.3″ between comfort and portability. It’s also light at 3.8lbs. It looks like the outer shell is made of aluminum, but the rest of the casing seems quite “normal”. The other specs are Intel T3400 2.16Ghz (a CULV would have been cooler), 13.3″ 1280×1024 with 1.3MP webcam, 3GB DDR 2m 800Mhz (8GB max), 250GB hdd, DVD drive, 3x USB, 3.5mm audio in/out, VGA, Multi-format card reader, WiFi-N, Bluetooth, Gigabit Ethernet. Dell Latitude E6400 XFR

Dell Latitude E6400 XFR
The second gen Latitude E6400 XFR is now released and is carrying on the tradition of the first one. You can immediately see the difference of this one visually compared to the earlier model.
The XFR can handle the DoD’s MIL-STD 810F heat, dust and vibration requirements, the PR481 “ballistic” armor provides twice the impact protection of magnesium alloy and the whole thing is well-sealed enough to handle direct blasts of pressurized water. The specs include a Core 2 Duo, a 6MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M and an integrated 4500MHD driving a sunlight-readable 14.1 inch WXGA display. The size is 2.2-inch thick and a 8.5-pound package that is 15% thinner and 5% lighter. Amazing. Of course this will come for a price that’s still TBA.
